The challenge encompassed crafting an easy-to-use interface, integrating diverse data sources, and ensuring accessibility for users with varying technical proficiency. The ultimate goal was to empower users to comprehend the tangible effects of their contributions on coastal restoration initiatives.\\n\\nProcess:\\nCreating the dashboard for Inverto Earth involved collaborative engagement with stakeholders to define metrics, followed by meticulous data collection across social, climate, and biodiversity dimensions. The design phase prioritized an intuitive interface featuring interactive visuals to enhance user experience.\\n\\nSolution:\\nThe devised solution for Inverto Earth comprised a user-centric dashboard tailored for parcel adopters, enabling them to monitor project metrics and observe social, climate, and biodiversity impacts. The incorporation of an intuitive interface and interactive visuals significantly increased user engagement. from reporting the UN in New York, then presenting the BBC World Service\u2019s Focus on Africa from London, presenting South Africa\u2019s Carte Blanche from Johannesburg, to nearly two decades anchoring BBC World TV News from London and most recently at Al Jazeera in Doha.\\n\\nShe is the host and creator of the Africa Here & Now podcast and needed a website to act as a central hub for her podcast.\\n(Website available here: https://www.africahereandnow.com/)\\n\\nThe challenge was to create a website that would be easy to maintain and update whilst also giving her the capability to collect donations for the podcast and link to the various plaforms the podcast is hosted on.\\n\\nTo achieve this I created a website using framer that has a bespoke CMS blog. MVP lauch were; finding a space to study in, finding information and resources, engaging in events on campus and planning time effectively. \\n\\nThrough a process of continuous user research and co-ideation sessions we arrived at 4 main features for the student app.\\nMy Day: An overview of student's timetables, pulling in live data from the university's internal systems ensuring students are up to date with any schedule or room changes.\\nDiscover: An aggregator of all events happing across the university allowing students to browse sports, social, music and theatre events all in one place.\\nStudy Spaces: A live overview of all the study spaces available across the university's 3 campuses showing how busy each space is and allowing students to book specific spaces.\\nInfo Hub: An interactive checklist that updates with the most critic tasks students need to do at each stage of their studies.\\n\\nThe app's design, build and launch acted as a catalyst for the university's wider We combined qualitative data gathered from interviewing prospective students with a review of previous research studies and existing site analytics.  Alongside demographic differences, we found that the student\u2019s position in their application has a big say in how they behave on the site. \\n\\nFrom initially considering higher education, through researching and shortlisting options, down to finally making decisions; each context requires a unique support system, and different information to be provided. In addition we discovered that there\u2019s a broad spectrum of how proactive potential students are. This strongly influences how much additional guidance is required to effectively convey the information the students need.  Our initial research let us map out the key moments where we could have an impact, and prioritise areas where the site could better help students.\\n\\nTargeted redesign and user testing features for students.\\n\\nWe consistently heard from students at an early stage in their journey that the \u2018course search\u2019 box could be daunting, as they were often still exploring whether they wanted to go into higher education, and if so, what their options were. Students didn\u2019t need a search box, they needed possibilities they recognised.\\n\\nWorking with the Discover Uni team we prototyped a \u2018subject guide\u2019 feature, which let users browse through categories of courses, find out more about them and understand what careers they could lead onto. Working in close collaboration with the content experts at the OfS we created multiple low fidelity prototypes and an exercise for our research participants to help prioritise the information they wanted to see. \\n\\nThrough our lean user testing approach I was quickly able to incorporate an appealing design language, and an effective scheme for prioritising information, efficiently leading to high fidelity website variants based on these findings.\\n\\nMaking home, navigation and search work for a diverse audience\\n\\nIn addition to the subject guides feature, we identified that the homepage and navigation weren\u2019t serving the diverse user group as well as they could, nor expressing the full value of Discover Uni at first viewing. \\nAs the primary journey for most users, the search bar and subsequent results worked well for some users, but not those in the early stages of decision making. As a site built by a changing team over a number of years it had also suffered from incremental tinkering, without a holistic review or update.\\n\\nThe user contexts provided the perfect lens to understand the competing priorities for the homepage, nav and search journey. By combining data gathered from collaborative workshops with user research, we developed a relative priority order for different use cases, resulting in a reweighting of the importance of various items on the page.\\n\\nAt the same time, we rethought search, adding multiple search \u2018modes\u2019 to the existing course search. In future, users will be able to search by location, course, subject and institution, better serving their diverse information needs.\\n\\nProject completed in collaboration with Brett Thornton & Joni
