# Hiring Victor — what recruiters and design managers ask

<!-- ⚠️ Every [FILL: …] below is a fact I could not verify. Replace them ALL
before uploading: the agent quotes this file verbatim to real recruiters,
and a wrong answer about your visa status or seniority is worse than no
answer. Delete any question you'd rather the agent didn't answer at all —
an absent section makes it fall back to "ask him directly", which is a
     perfectly good answer. -->

## The short version

Victor Adedini is a UX/product designer who also ships the software he designs.
His framing for how he works: "I make the calls, AI does the typing." He designs
and builds real, working products — not just screens of them.

## For recruiters

### What roles is he looking for?
[FILL: full-time / contract / freelance? IC or lead? The titles that fit —
"Senior Product Designer", "Design Engineer", "Founding Designer"? And the
titles that don't, so the agent can screen out bad-fit approaches.]

### Is he available, and from when?
[FILL: e.g. "Open to senior product roles from March" or "Not looking right
now, but open to hearing about X". Include notice period if employed.]

### Where is he based? Will he work remotely or relocate?
[FILL: base city + timezone; remote / hybrid / on-site; relocation yes/no;
which timezones he can overlap with.]

### Does he need visa sponsorship?
[FILL: work authorization per region — this is a top-3 recruiter question and
a wrong answer wastes everyone's time. If you'd rather not state it publicly,
write the exact redirect you want, e.g. "he'll cover this on a first call".]

### What are his salary / rate expectations?
[FILL: either a public range, or the redirect — e.g. "compensation is discussed
per role; reach out and he'll share his range".]

### How many years of experience does he have, and doing what?
[FILL: years + the arc, e.g. "N years across fintech and consumer mobile,
most recently owning X".]

### What industries and domains has he worked in?
[FILL: the real list. His portfolio spans fintech, consumer apps, AI products
and developer tooling — confirm and name the domains you want emphasised.]

### Can he code? How technical is he?
This is one of his differentiators, so it's worth being concrete. He builds and
ships working software — including native macOS apps — designing and
implementing them himself with AI tooling rather than handing off specs. His
own line is "I make the calls, AI does the typing": he owns the product
decisions and the architecture calls, and uses AI to accelerate the typing.

[FILL: the specifics — languages/frameworks he's comfortable in, what he'd be
happy doing on day one in a codebase, and where he'd want an engineer. Be
honest about the boundary; a design manager will probe this exact claim.]

### What tools does he use?
[FILL: design tools (Figma?), prototyping, research, AI tooling (Claude Code),
front-end. A plain comma list is fine.]

### Education?
[FILL: degree(s), school(s), years — or "self-taught", if that's the honest
answer. Say so plainly either way.]

### Where should I start in his portfolio?
The site splits into two kinds of work:

- **Client case studies** — Rank App, Rank Website, My Fuud, Idle Finance,
Flight Tracker, Akewi App, Adria AI, Discreet.
- **Explorations** — self-directed products he designed and built end-to-end:
Rewrite, NetCheck, Browser Picker, Career OS, EOFlow, Living Grass Hero.
Browser Picker is "the 'which browser?' chooser macOS never shipped".

[FILL: which 2–3 you actually want a recruiter to open first, and why each one
is worth their time.]

### Is any of the work confidential?
[FILL: if some case studies are thin or under NDA, say so — it lets the agent
explain the gap instead of looking like there's nothing there.]

### How do I get in touch?
[FILL: preferred channel — contact page path, email, or LinkedIn. The agent
sends anyone it can't help to this, so it matters.]

---

## For design managers

### How does he approach a new problem?
[FILL: his actual process in 3–4 sentences — how he goes from a vague brief to
a decision. Concrete beats generic: "double diamond" tells a manager nothing.]

### How does he use research? What happens when there's no data?
[FILL: methods he genuinely runs, and how he decides without evidence — the
honest answer to "you won't always have research" is what's being tested.]

### How does he work with engineers and PMs?
[FILL: how he hands off (or doesn't), how he handles "that's not feasible",
how close he sits to the build. His build-it-himself background is unusual
here — say what it changes in practice.]

### How does he handle critique and disagreement?
[FILL: a real example of changing his mind, and one of holding his ground.]

### Has he led or mentored anyone?
[FILL: team size, ICs mentored, anything he's owned beyond his own work — or
"no, he's been an IC" if that's the truth. Overclaiming here gets found out in
one reference check.]

### How does he prioritise and handle ambiguity?
[FILL: how he decides what NOT to do.]

### How does he know his design worked?
[FILL: how he measures success. Note: he doesn't invent metrics, so if the
honest answer is "qualitative signals and shipped usage", say that.]

### Speed versus polish — where does he sit?
[FILL: his real bias, and when he breaks it.]

### How does he use AI in his workflow?
Worth answering carefully — a design manager in 2026 will ask, and his answer
is a differentiator rather than a liability. He uses AI as an execution engine
while keeping the judgement himself, which is how a solo designer ships whole
products.

[FILL: what he delegates to AI vs decides himself; what he's learned about
where it fails; how he'd bring this to a team.]

### Where is he still growing?
[FILL: a real weakness with what he's doing about it. Every manager asks; a
non-answer here reads worse than the weakness.]

### Tell me about something that didn't work.
[FILL: a project that went sideways and what changed as a result. This is the
single most-asked design-manager question and the site can't answer it.]

### What does he want from a team and a manager?
[FILL: what he's looking for — it's a two-way interview, and this helps good
matches self-select in.]

## If you're asked something that isn't covered here

Don't guess or infer an answer about Victor's availability, compensation,
visa status, or employment history from anything else on the site. If it isn't
stated above, say it isn't something you can speak to and point the person at
his contact page.
